Dappleheart padded warily along the path. She did not recognize the place, it was definitely not ShadeClan territory. Did she wander into another Clan’s territory? But the place did not have a scent that belonged to any of the Clans she knew, and the she-cat was sure that she did not step out of the camp since the warrior’s ceremony. Was it a dream, then? It felt too realistic to be one.
Her pawsteps quickened. She glanced around furtively, starting to get terrified. The trees on either side of the path seemed to close in on her. Sunlight had filtered through the gaps in the canopy of the forest not long ago, but there was now there was none shining through.
Dappleheart was running now, desperate to get out of this unknown place. She skidded around a corner, her paws sliding on the dead leaves that littered the forest floor. her eyes widened when she saw bright light in front of her. She dashed towards it.
The warrior slowed as she entered the bright light. As her eyes focused, she gasped. She was standing at the edge of a clearing. The grass seemed to ripple like water as the wind blew across the glade. The trees around the clearing no longer seemed menacing, instead, they seemed as if they were sleeping peacefully. Dappleheart instantly calmed. Not only that, the whole place was glowing dimly.
She glanced back. The path where she had come from had disappeared.
